Hiding in Lies

Words Worth Thinking About

Hiding in Lies

About two thousand, seven hundred years ago the prophet Isaiah warned the people of Israel they had chosen to ignore reality. They had replaced truth with lies, believing those falsehoods would keep them safe.

Isaiah described their thinking this way:

“… we have made lies our refuge,
and in falsehood we have taken shelter.”

Isaiah 28:15 (ESV)

God made it clear that choosing to follow lies and falsehoods doesn’t work—for individuals or nations.

IT’S ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY

Every generation must decide whether to embrace the truth or seek refuge in comforting lies.

OUR WORLD

It’s easy to see that temptation in our world today. Too often, people choose comfortable lies over uncomfortable truth.

But a refuge built on lies will never stand.

Truth may be difficult to face — but it’s the only foundation that lasts.

A QUESTION

What kind of refuge are we building our lives on — truth or lies?

A BLESSING

Before I go, I’d like to share a blessing with you from the Old Testament.

“May the Lord bless and protect you; may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you; may he be gracious to you, show you his favor, and give you his peace.”

Numbers 6:24-26 (The Living Bible)

Until next time … be the reason someone smiles today
