Would you have given a pardon to Tomoya Kawakita, a man caught between two worlds during World War II? Two presidents had to decide that issue. Were they right? Was justice served? What would you have done?
I believe Mr. Kawakita was still an American citizen when he worked for the Japanese government in its war against the United States. And I believe he was rightlfully convicted of treason and deserving of the death penalty. I think, however, that I would have followed Eisenhower's decision and commuted the death sentence to life in prison.
I decided what I would have done but wonder about your decision?
